Watercolor is a medium that I’ve always been interested in trying. I’m a very new beginner, so when I opened up Just Add Watercolor by Helen Birch I expected to get a step-by-step of where to start. That wasn’t the case, as this book is filled with examples rather than instructions.

The book is beautiful, and I really enjoyed flipping through all of the beautiful artwork that brightly adorn the pages.

I was inspired by one of the examples in the book, titled “Painting Everyday Items,” to paint the Ginghers that were sitting on my cutting table. It’s not the best attempt (that’s why I didn’t share…haha!), but it was fun to practice something completely new to me!

Overall, I would give this book at 4 out of 5. It will definitely inspire you to try new techniques with watercolors, and the photos that accompany the examples are stunning!
