I’m excited to share my favorite bright floral skirt today as a part of the Color Me Lucky Blog Tour hosted by Sewing By Ti. I also tested another wonderful top that pairs perfectly with the skirt!

This month, Ti’s theme was simply to take a look at the 2017 Pantone colors and interpret in our own way. My skirt showcases Lapis Blue, Pink Yarrow and a little bit of Primrose Yellow.

Confession: I actually made this skirt a while ago, but I never blogged about it. It pairs perfectly with the prompt, so I couldn’t resist sharing it as part of the tour.

I’ve mentioned in passing how much I really love the Sybil Illusions Skirt by Love Notions, but this version in a bright floral liverpool that I got in a Knitpop auction box is one of my faves. It definitely brightens up a chilly winter day! I didn’t add pockets to this pleated version, but I wish I had. Always add pockets…always.

The skirt pairs perfectly with the new ponte Bryant Dolman that I had the pleasure of testing for Kimberly of Straight Stitch Designs. It is such a quick sew with a well drafted boatneck that really showcases a good statement necklace. Get it for 10% off until this Sunday! Did I mention it has a long sleeve option, too?

I can’t wait to make another Bryant in a jersey knit. But, the stability of the ponte does work wonderfully tucked into a skirt like this one. Drapey knits just don’t sit on my body well when tucked into skirts.

  1. Love this – that skirt truly pops with the black as a base! I will have to add more bright colored print pieces and neutral basics to my wardrobe!

    1. Right?! I liked both pieces on their own, but I LOVE them together. Bright colors with neutral basics have been my go-to lately!

  2. So much bright beautiful color. It definitely brightens up the day.

And I totally agree. I recently made a dress and forgot the pockets. I now have no place for my hands!

    1. Right? Always pockets if possible. The color on this skirt really stands out, I agree. I actually have a pencil skirt cut out in the same fabric that I’ve been meaning to finish!

  3. Thanks for sharing. I was pretty uninspired by looking at the grid of pantone colors, but you and the other tour bloggers are really showing well how to use them in outfits, prints, and solids.

The skirt is so pretty and looks great with your new dolman.

    1. Thank you, Melissa!! I was feeling pretty “blah” when I looked at the palette at first, and if I’m being totally honest I did cheat a little with a skirt I made last year. But the colors were too perfect not to use for the tour!
