Thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Fabric Fashion Challenge 5! Unfortunately, I was the first one to get voted out–the competition is fierce! I was a little bummed to find out that I didn’t make it to the next Challenge round mostly because I had a personal goal to make it to the final three bloggers. Someone had to be first though, and that someone was me. But I appreciate all the support–putting myself out there in that capacity was a first for me and a challenge in itself! Best of luck to the ladies who made it to Round 2. I can’t wait to see what you make!
Today I’m back with a post that was queued up before I entered the Fabric Mart challenge–the Sew Long Summer Blog Tour hosted by Melissa from mahlicadesigns! It is the perfect way to finally start the transition from summer to fall (my favorite season to dress and sew for) and finally look “normal” as I’ve been this pasty white color ALL SUMMER.
For my stop on the tour I made a TNT (tried and true) pattern for me that I have not blogged about yet: the Cocoon Cardigan by Patterns for Pirates. I have three or four of these in my wardrobe right now, and I’ve made my mom two! It’s a quick, easy pattern that is the perfect addition to my wardrobe.
This transitional version features a gorgeous black sweater knit from Simply by Ti Fabrics. Ti sent this to me a few months ago in exchange for my honest thoughts, and I was excited to utilize it for this project! The fabric the perfect way to go from summer to fall. It’s lightweight yet still warm. I took the photos at a friend’s house yesterday, and it was so sunny you’d think it was still 80+ degrees here!
I actually used this fabric wrong side out (I think!). I love the texture that it gives off and how I can pair it with just about anything I have planned for fall! And you can never go wrong with black fabric–its versatility is endless in my wardrobe.
The Cocoon Cardigan offers a lot of options, and I chose to sew the tunic version with the shorter band. The one thing I wish is that I would have sized down on the body of the cardigan and used the wider band measurements. I think it would have given off more of the oversized vibe that I love. And on the technical side I should have worked with my serger to even out my tension. It’s a little wavy in places, but I still love it!
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you know I love pieces that can be dressed up or down. This cardigan will pair great with a shift dress (coming soon!) for an upcoming wedding we have, or it’s perfect to throw on over a t-shirt and jeans for the store or leggings while I knit and Netflix.
What’s your fall season TNT pattern?
Don’t forget to visit the other lovely blogger’s on the tour this week. Thanks to Melissa for hosting!
