October’s Sewing By Ti Blog Tour theme is Monster Mash, and I’m sharing my favorite pattern mash-up today!

I’ve blogged about Love Notions patterns a lot (see here…I’m sure there are a few posts untagged, too), but I realized when I signed up for this tour that I’ve never blogged about my favorite mash-up: the Tessa/Sybil dress!

I currently have three versions (shown below) in my closet with at least two more planned. I plan to make at least one more black version, this time with pockets (how did I leave those out?!) and sleeves. I strategically sewed each dress sans sleeves on purpose in May before summer hit, and I’m so glad. I love a good sleeveless dress to transition from season to season!

This mash-up is a really simple hack that I plan to put into tutorial form soon, but it’s as simple as cutting out a Tessa bodice and sewing it onto your favorite Sybil skirt. My fave is the pleated version, clearly.

This dress rivals a certain MLM company dress, but you don’t have to scour multiple Facebook groups for your new favorite LBD! It’s the perfect dress for work and special events, but it also looks cute with a jean jacket on the weekend.

Do you have a favorite pattern mash-up that turned into your TNT (tried and true)?

    1. Yes–they are a must together! I started with the Sybil, and then when I realized I could mash *any* of the skirts with the Tessa bodice I was even more sold. Once you get the perfect fit it makes the best TNT!
