If you’re reading this, that means I some how clicked “publish” even after getting my days mixed up for this tour and Monday’s Spring into Color tour and getting home late from a work trip. Daylight Saving kicked my butt! But I’m back to share a new-to-me PDF pattern company as part of the Breaking Ground Tour hosted by Melissa of mahlicadesigns. Like last year, tour participants were asked to sew something that was new to them, and I took the new designer route. I recently discovered Sinclair Patterns*, and I’m excited to share two new makes today!

My Makes

First up: the Danielle batwing top*!

I sewed the Danielle in a lightweight french terry that is perfect for this transition from winter to spring. Although, from my photos you might think it’s fall…we really need to get those leaves out of our yard. While this fabric is great for this time of year, next time I’ll go for something with a little bit better recovery. This fabric was a random buy that I’m not sure I’ll go for again.

Back to this top! I have two favorite features. First, the long sleeve cuffs that add to the relaxed look. And second, the back detail (seen below).

The Danielle* features a lovely criss-cross v back detail that adds an extra element of fun to this top. I love that I can dress it up for date nigh or pair it with leggings for a night in.

Speaking of leggings, I had the opportunity to sew a pair of those from Sinclair, too.

The Penny Leggings* are a classic leggings pattern with a few different options to make them fit you just right. I opted for the high comfort waist in an athletic knit that I had in my stash (my mom actually gave it to me from hers…I think it might be from Joann).

Again, my fabric picks this time around…were not the best that matched these awesome patterns. You can see that the waistband from the Danielle got a little stretched out in a fabric without great recovery. I still love it, though. Live and learn!

What I liked most about Sinclair Patterns

Sinclair Patterns* is an Australian PDF pattern company that boasts a lot of pattern options for men and women. Being a Sinclair newbie, I wasn’t sure how the printing/assembling process would go because there were a lot of files to decipher. But I’m happy to report that everything goes together smoothly!

In addition to the pattern that is available, Sinclair’s namesake and designer, Oxana, provides nice-to-have features like a printable card to take notes on that are specific to the pattern you are working on. The card has the fabric requirements on it, so it’s great to be able to throw in your bag before a day of supply shopping. In addition, the patterns boast a wide size range that allow you to tailor a perfect fit for your body–and isn’t that one of the reasons why we all sew?

Overall, minus the fabric choices I made, I’m really happy with these two garments from a new-to-me PDF pattern designer!

*These patterns were provided to me by Sinclair Patterns for my honest opinion, and the links provided to the patterns are affiliate links. I wouldn’t use them if I wasn’t a fan of the patterns, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to try them out (and ultimately sew more!).

Have you sewn anything new this spring? A new designer or new type of garment? I’d love to know! As always, thanks for reading.
