I’ve had How to Get Dressed: A Costume Designer’s Secrets for Making Your Clothes Look, Fit, and Feel Amazing by Alison Freer on my bookshelf for awhile. Then it got moved to my coffee table, and I’ve finally had the chance to get through it and share my thoughts.
The book covers how to make your style work for you–it’s really a timeless read. I think I could fast forward five years from now and the content of how to style pieces and take care of items will still be relevant. Which is great!
What I wasn’t a huge fan of (and why I think the book sat unread for so long) is the tiny print that filled the book. It made it really hard to sit down and comfortably read, put down and then pick back up again at my leisure.
Ultimately as a sewist and someone who is starting to really think about the pieces that are in my wardrobe, I liked this book. It is definitely a great resource to have on my shelf to look at when I need a refresher.
