Pattern Testing | Fringe Dress by Chalk and Notch

I am so excited to share what I’m calling my “Owl Be There For You” dress! Can you tell I finished bingeing “Friends” recently?

When Gabriela of Chalk and Notch Patterns put out the tester call for the Fringe Dress I jumped at the chance to test for her again. I’m a huge fan (see here and here) of her excellent drafting skills. This pattern did not disappoint.

The fabric is unknown to me because it’s been sitting in my stash for years. But this pattern was just the thing to bring it out and show it off. Owls on owls on owls! Bonus: it’s so soft.

I love everything about this dress. The neckline, the sleeves, the hemline, and of course, it has POCKETS. Pockets are a requirement for dresses nowadays….at least for me!

Let’s talk about the neckline. I chose View B for the bodice and sleeves which means this dress is sans buttons (View A offers a placket down the center and sleeve tabs. You can also mix and match for four different top half looks.). It’s a flattering neckline with a little extra detail. you can’t go wrong!

Also important to note, the sleeves on this pattern rank #1 in woven sleeves for me. They are a cuff style sewn to a dolman bodice, and they just make me swoon! I usually always have a tough time with sleeves fitting right, but these are perfection.

This pattern also offers a top version, which I have on my sewing list for the fall. I envision that version complementing a pant suit for work or jeans on the weekend date night.

Be sure to grab the pattern on sale here. Thanks for reading!

P.P.S. I received the final version of this awesome pattern in exchange for my time, personal fabric and feedback. Pattern testing is one of my favorite parts about the online sewing community, but I’ll always provide my honest thoughts.
