Hello, long-lost blog friends! It’s been awhile. I have a lot going on (new job, getting ready to move, SUMMER), but I am so excited for my stop on the Sew Americana 2018 Blog Tour, hosted by fabulous Katy of Wild and Wanderful and sponsored by the lovely Sly Fox Fabrics. They sent me two yards of the gorgeous white sweater knit to make the perfect summer sweater featured in this post–all opinions are my own! And, if you’d like to see my past two contributions to this tour, check out my posts from 2016 and 2017. I can’t believe it’s year three!
I’ve been making a lot of summer sweaters lately, as my new office environment is cooler than what I’m used to in 90 degree weather. I’ve been on the hunt for fabric that was lightweight but didn’t feel like a fall sweater. Enter this lovely popcorn sweater knit from Sly Fox that pairs lovely with the Blackwood Cardigan pattern by Helen’s Closet.
If you followed me on Instagram during Me Made May 2018 (there’s a recap in my story highlights!) you know I wore the Blackwood pattern at least once a week, if not twice. For me, the fit is spot on and it’s such an quick sew! I was eager to make it again.
The sweater knit from Sly Fox is so soft, lightweight and verrrryyyy stretchy. I’m going to see how it washes, but I could have easily sized down for this pattern. But, I love the slouchy look it gives! It’s the perfect summer sweater.
I paired this Blackwood with another new-to-me pattern, the Ogden Cami by True Bias, in a stash fabric that is a red, white, and blue that I can wear beyond the Fourth and not feel like it’s over the top. I’m still working out some kinks in the fit on this pattern, as the front facing rides up on me all the time. However, it’s a quick and easy sew that I want to make more and more of (along with more Blackwoods–I have my eye on this grey sweater knit from Sly Fox for my next version).
I’m the caboose of this tour (thanks for letting me jump on, Katy!!), but if you missed any of the other ladies be sure to check out their beautiful work to celebrate the upcoming holiday.
Have a wonderful weekend–I’ll be back soon…there is much to share!
